I have two favorties. First a fly. I found two small strainers and created fly goggles out of them. All black attire completed the ensemble. My other favorite was Freudian Slip. Took some sharpies and wrote Freud quotes all over a slip.

Wow your kids look just like you!
My favorite costume wasn't so much the costume as the situation. Also it wasn't my costume. In high school I worked at CVS and we were allowed to dress up for Halloween. I wore a cheerleader outfit and my friend Margaret wore a nuns habit. I can't tell you how many people asked me if she was really a nun. I had so much fun whispering "There's a little money trouble at the convent" and then smiling.

My favorite as a child was as a jack o'lantern. My dad made me a pumpkin head out of a beer ball and I wore green shirt and pants. It stunk of vinegar, but it was unique! As an adult, I haven't really dressed up since college. Twice I was Annette Funicello. I borrowed a friend's mouse ears, taped letters on an off-white turtleneck sweater and wore a black skirt. It was cute, but it was better when you knew my name.
