Pulsations

So, I didn't get around to posting again last week.  It was another six day work week, with some long days, and lots of non-work things that I wanted to do didn't get done.  BUT. . . I *did* get knitting done, and I'm counting that as a huge success.  And here, without further ado, I present my Pulsations socks:

If you click on the link above, you'll be taken to the pattern.  I used the recommended yarn, Supernova, from Amy Boogie, in the Soylent colorway.  There are two sizes to this pattern and I made the larger one due to my wide feet.  I think that when I knit this pattern again, I will make the smaller size because I find that these socks are quite roomy and I am theorizing that if I make another pair in the smaller size, the lace pattern will be easier to see while I am wearing them.  (Okay, okay, I should check my gauge to make sure I wasn't knitting too loosely, as it could be me, but I'm too tired to do it right at this very moment.)

These socks won't go into wearing rotation for quite a while because it's summer.   It's way too warm to wear these socks now, but I am going to wash them soon for a couple of reasons.  First, the yarn turned my needles greenish, though it did not turn my fingers green.  I don't want to take any chances on green feet, so I will try a bath with a little bit of vinegar just to be safe.  Second, I might just try to shrink these socks a tiny bit.  If they don't shrink, they will still fit, but I keep wishing that they were just a tad smaller so that the lace pattern would be stretched out more.

Next on my knitting plate should be finishing either of the two pairs of socks that I have already started or working on the purple sweater I started for DD months ago.  I kept telling myself that I had all summer to knit it, but the bloody back to school ads have already started, so I'm feeling panicky that I won't have it done in time for the cooler weather.  Realistically speaking, I know it will be October before she actually wears it, but with the way my knitting time has been eaten up by other things for the past few months, I ought to focus on this project.

And the new Harry Potter book arrived on Saturday morning (while I was at work), which is going to further cut into my knitting time.  It will be interesting to see what happens on Monday with my Bloglines. . . how many knitters out there are going to have less knitting and blogging done over the weekend due to time spent with Harry????  Just don't tell me how what happens.  I've got a crazy week coming up and I know I won't have much time to enjoy Harry myself until mid-August.  Have a great week!

I have thick ankles and wide feet, so I usually knit the larger size too. But I'm often finding that they're too big. I'm in the middle of a Cookie A pattern, and I'm a little worried about the size of those, too.

Lovely green socks, I know what you mean about the lacy pattern and the swatching!! I have the strange urge to yell out: Soylent Green is Socks!!!

I spent Saturday with Harry (and part of Sunday). I do have a wee bit of knitting progress, mostly from Friday night.

Ooh I'm with 2paw, I want to scream Soylent Green is socks too;)

I've been spending my weekend with Harry. We had to buy 3 copies to keep the peace here.

Bloglines is mighty quiet this morning.

Yep, I finished Harry Potter in 24 hours. It was well worth the diminished crafting time :)

Those back-to-school ads....UGH. My least favorite reminder....
