This is Sunday Sky, not Saturday Sky, but this is far more interesting than yesterday's sky. Yesterday was nice and sunny. This afternoon we had thunder and lightning. I took this just before the rain started to fall.
We also had a little bit of lightning in the house. Well, to be absolutely truthful, it was fire and it was my fault. I was making one of my very favorite dishes, beans over cilantro lime tofu, and as I was frying up the beans with garlic and red pepper, they caught fire. For some reason, this happens to me a lot, which is why I no longer make this dish very often. I figure that eventually my luck will run out and I will burn down the house or seriously injure someone with the cooking fire. Today's only casualty was the microwave oven.
My microwave is over the stove, and it got a little bit dirty. Fortunately, it didn't get melted because I had the foresight to remove the pan from the stove as the flames shot up higher and higher. I am happy to report that the microwave has been restored to its usual clean state and that it works just fine. The beans and tofu were pretty good, too, once I finally got to sit down and enjoy them.
I think I've got some sort of bad juju thing going on here, as it seems like there are lots of little things that are messed up around me. On Friday, I tripped over a Dansko clog (yeah, the kind with rubber soles), which took off most of the polish on one toenail and almost ripped the nail off. Tonight, I patched everything together with base coat and then repainted the nail a similar shade of pink as the other nine. (The polish on the other nine is from the salon.) I think it look pretty good. My computer printer is broken. I've had iTunes issues up the wazoo and can't back anything up anymore. When I sat down to start writing this post, I discovered that my computer no longer recognizes my camera, so I had to reinstall and restart. Let's hope that the weekend of wierd little things going wrong will end once I go to bed. Normally, I'm not really, really excited about going to work on Monday morning, but I will be this week!
I promised a finished sock and here it is. This one shouldn't be too lonely for too long, as I actually have been knitting. I know in my last post I said that I was going to get back into the groove. It's happened slowly, but it has happened. On Monday night, I did cast on and knit during The Closer. Unfortunately, the tendonitis I have in my right arm has come back with a rage, so I spent my other knitting TV time (during Rescue Me) icing my arm. I did manage to knit the entire leg of the sock on Saturday, mostly during the fabulous three fight HBO boxing program. DH was at a bachelor party, so I watched it alone, though he doesn't really like boxing as much as I do anyway. I figure that if I could knock off the leg of the sock in one day, I can certainly finish the sock by the end of the month. The second sock isn't going to be like the first one, which took me ages to finish. Plus, I like this pattern and this yarn, so it's not the type of project that I have to force myself to finish.
I would plan on finishing the sock during next Saturday night's HBO boxing, but it's pay per view, not regular HBO, and we're going to the wedding associated with this week's bachelor party. I'm in a panic about what to wear. The invitation says casual, and the wedding and reception are outdoors (under a tent), with cookout type food being served. I was going to wear long shorts, a flowy top, and a pair of platform espadrilles (you know, with the ankle ties -- DH hates them but that's his problem). But last night the groom did say that most of the women will be wearing sundresses. I am a very, very fair skinned woman with very wide shoulders. I would never, ever wear a sundress, not in a million years. So, panic has set in, and I ordered a non-sun dress online this morning. Hopefully, I'll get it before this weekend. The shipping info was a bit sketchy. So, what will I wear? Tune in to see. I will get a photo, I promise.
On a related note, I have decided that I want a new digital camera. I'm not sure whether to go for one of those really, really tiny ones or a digital "SLR". I really like the Canon Digital Rebel and the Nikon D40, but those teeny tiny digital cameras are so enticing. So, what do you think? What digital cameras have you used and really loved/hated? I can't wait to see your answers, and I might even be motivated enough to post again this week. Have a good one!
I can't believe you had a fire in your kitchen (and that you've had them before - with that very dish)! I've never caught anything on fire while cooking. Does that make me an unadventurous cook? :)
Camera-wise, right now I've got a Kodak Easy Share Zsomething and it's very nice. But bulky. I'll be buying one of those teeny tiny things soon. I just never ever take the big camera with me - too much bother. I think the big expensive digital SLRs are great if you're seriously into photography, but otherwise, the little ones are more practical and take perfectly nice shots.

Eep--fire?? Glad THAT worked out okay.
Camera? My favorite is still my itty-bitty Canon Elph. I've had two different models of this camera and love it. It's small enough to fit in my pocket, I carry it constantly in my purse, and it takes great pictures. More than I'd ever take with an SLR, because those are just too big to comfortably carry (grin).

Girl, what were you doing to those beans?! I'm glad the only one hurt was the microwave.
I love those tiny cameras that come in cool colors, but I also love the idea of a big ass camera that can do everything. Yeah, I'm not so helpful. :p
How about a long skirt and top? Shawl optional. Some of us were not meant for sundresses.

Ok, not that I want to set the place on fire, but beans over cilantro lime tofu sounds pretty good. Would you share the recipe if I promise to keep the fire extinguisher handy? ;)
I use a Cannon Powershot SR something something. Its the only one I've ever used and I got it in February. I've never read the manual but I think its pretty good. All the pictures on my blog are from that camera.

I have a Canon Rebel Digital SLR and I absolutely adore it. It takes the most amazing pictures, especially action shots, and great general pictures. Plus it is adaptable and works with my previous Canon lenses.
I also have a Sony Cybershot. it's several years old, but still takes adequate pictures. If I had to get a small camera again, I'd probably go sony, but that might also be because my computer at home is a sony.

I've had an actual fire in my kitchen so I'm glad you are OK. It was very scary. What a boogelly time you are having: glad the sock is so beautiful, it must cheer you up to look at it. The whole what to wear thing? I am so over it. I wear what I like that will meet the guidelines!!! As long as it's green!!!

Glad that no one was hurt during your kitchen fire. Very scary!
I just bought a new camera myself a few days ago. A Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W55 - one of those little bitty things. So far I'm loving it - takes some great pictures. Now I can give the camera I pilfered from my dad back. My brother and Sil took a look at mine and decieded to pick up a new point and shoot for themselves. (They were using a fancy digital SLR). Now that the girls are getting a bit older (and will stay still for a picture) they wanted something they could throw in a bag and take along fairly easily. Their new one was the Sony DSC-N2. Much sweeter than mine - touch screen. Very nice.
