The Blues
It's been raining so many days that I can't remember when I last saw the sun. The flooding here has started again, although not as bad as last month, but if the rain continues, things will be flooded soon. It's pretty damned depressing. However, Julie made her fundraising goal and she should have completed her walk for the American Cancer Society a few hours ago. I don't know if they had an alternate site in case it rained, but I hope so because that event was scheduled to go for 18 hours. Way to go, Julie, and I hope that you are not too wet!
I got a cool package yesterday from Heather. We're exchanging sock needles, but as you can see, she added a few more goodies in there. Actually, there was more fun stuff from NASA, but it didn't make it into the photo. I really needed that little pick me up yesterday, because I had a very tough day at work. So, some bright and shiny stuff from the knitblog universe's own rocket scientist really hit the spot. I guess you're wondering where exactly the needles are, as that was the main purpose of this swap. . . check the packaging out. . .
Heather is too funny! Inside that bubble wrap with the Delicate Instruments label was a set of size 0 (2.0mm) Brittanys. I don't think I've ever had such small gauge needles, and these definitely are delicate looking. I will most definitely handle them with great care. I've also got to get working on what I am sending Heather in exchange. . . I'm thinking something local (but not rain!). If you're tempted to make that Box of Rain joke, don't bother, I already thought of it, ha ha.
There's a new button on my KAL list -- Bitchin Mittens, which is being run by the fabulous Dave of Cabin Cove Mercantile. I think that I might do the thrummed mittens from the kit I got from Amy Boogie because it looks so luscious.
As for knitting I've actually been doing, it's still seaming Klaralund and weaving in all those bloody ends from the knotty skeins. I must confess that I haven't picked Klaralund up for a few days. I don't know whether it's the full moon this weekend or something else, but I feel out of sorts. Things have just been really difficult for the past few days. I'm doing fine at work, but the difficult things that I have to do there are taking an emotional toll on me. Interestingly, I've been contacted by two headhunters this week. . . haven't gotten back to them yet because I don't have time and I don't even know whether I want to leave my employer.
Outside of work, my life has also gotten more challenging. I don't know whether it's my upcoming birthday (not a milestone one) that has me feeling more reflective, but I am questioning everything about my life. Maybe I'm just stir crazy from being stuck inside due to the endless days of rain. Whatever the reason, I will be posting less frequently for a while because this is not stuff that I want to share with the world.
Sounds like you're having a tough time - hang in there! I don't think it's such a bad idea to do a little navel-gazing every now and again, though. If you need a friendly ear to process some thoughts, I'm available.

Hang in there girlfriend. I just weathered one of those eras at work. Sometimes I think change would be great and then I remember that there are difficulties and difficult people everywhere you go. So, the rub is do you deal with the KNOWN difficult people and press on or do you take a chance and forage into the UNKNOWN and encounter UNKNOWN difficult people. It is a Catch 22 for sure. Good luck and knit your way through it girl. Love on the pups too!!

Yup! I know exactly what you're talking about. My birthday is at the end of the month and I start with what I call the "birthday blues" right around June 1st. It's more reflection as you describe it but it certainly does make me question just about everything in my life.
Good luck and try to not let all the rain get you down.

Glad you liked the stuff! :) FYI I reused that sticker from a shipment we got from Houston! hehehe. Good times. Glad you got a lift.
