STR Sock Splendor
Yum! I love my Pomatomus socks! I think that they look quite good, and they are so soft that I just don't want to take them off, though I did take them off because it's been hot and humid.
The really good news is that when I wear them with shoes, the change in dye lot is completely invisible. I don't think it's too bad anyway. I must confess that I wore these socks around the house with Birkenstocks for a little while and it was heaven. I'm sure I must have looked quite fashionable, wearing shorts, these fairly tall socks, and Birkenstocks. I told DH that I'd actually almost wear these socks with my Birks (which are almost the same shade of blue that's in the yarn) if it weren't for my vow to never wear sandals with socks. I know, never say never, but in my world, if you need to wear socks with the sandals, just put on a pair of closed shoes, for dog's sake. I'm far more likely to wear shoes without socks than sandals with socks, but if there's anything that will make me cross that line I've drawn, it's these socks.
I got right back on the sticks and started a new pair of socks with the STR in Carbon Dating. Despite my liking the pattern and my loving the yarn, this did not do it for me. I just kept knitting and knitting and thinking that I would never, ever wear these socks with that striping going on like that. I've gotten over that and come up with a new idea for this yarn, and I'm very pleased with the results. I'll show you soon.
In strange news, we just found out that my FIL died. . . three years ago. So, clearly, my knitting Shedir didn't kill him. DH is taking this just fine, as his dad ran out on him when he was very young and hasn't really been part of his life. I'm dying of curiousity because all I can find is the date and place of death. If DH was okay with it, I'd hop on a plane to Ohio to investigate, but he's not interested. I guess that's one way opposites attract -- every couple I know has one who needs to know every little thing and another who doesn't much care for the details. I'm sure you know which one I am! No wonder I stay up nights worrying while DH sleeps like a baby. Tonight, I'll be dreaming of delicious STR. . .
Ooof. What unnerving news. Yikes.

Very lovely socks. Love the pattern. No one will ever notice the change in dye lot except you.

oooohhh! The socks are lovely!!! I am the non-details kind of girl, whereas my new SO likes to dissect every little detail! Trying to adapt! ;)

It looks like you dipped your toes in water! And yes, shoes cover a multitude of sins, even ugly toenails (I'm speaking about mine of course, not yours, because well I've never seen your toenails :-) )
